3.2.6 Setting up a remote backup
In addition to storing backups locally, the ISPManager4 panel allows you to upload them to remote storage via FTP and sFTP.
Setting up a remote backup
Let’s look at setting up such a backup using the example of uploading your backups to your Cloud Storage:
Important: all highlighted variables in the examples must be replaced with your information.
1. Log in to your ISPManager4 control panel. Go to the Maintenance section and open the Backup Plan Management tab. To create a new task, click New in the upper right corner:
2. In the open form, you will need to specify the settings for our future backup:
The settings we are interested in:
- Storage – in our case,
remote FTP server
. It is also possible to use sFTP by password and sFTP by key. - FTP Server – remote host address, for example server.keepdata.thehost.ua. You can find out the address of your Cloud Storage host as follows.
- Login – active FTP user on the remote storage. In our example, ftp_user, created inside the KeepData panel.
- Password – password of such FTP user.
- Directory – path to the directory (based on the root directory for the FTP user) where the backup will be written. In our example, it is /backup/.
- Period – in our example,
daily
.Weekly
andmonthly
backup options are also present. - Overwrite the existing archive backup – we recommend activating this checkbox.
3. Confirm and save the settings. Backups for this task will be uploaded to your Cloud Storage or any other remote server you specified.
Note: even if backups are immediately uploaded to remote storage, they still need free space on your server for their initial creation.
